The draft initiated by Silviu Vexler MEP aims to prevent and combat anti-Semitism, xenophobia and hate speech. Adopted with 78 "yes" votes, it amends existing legislation to include punishments of 3 to 10 years for forming or supporting extremist organizations. Also, distributing xenophobic material is punishable by 1 to 5 years in prison and Holocaust denial by 6 months to 3 years. The bill has been sent to the Chamber of Deputies for a final vote.
