At the Climate Change Summit 2025, the Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Diana Buzoianu, stated that environmental protection can no longer be a political option, but an urgent obligation. She emphasized that Romania must act decisively to build a sustainable future for future generations, considering the already visible impact of climate change, such as desertification and extreme weather phenomena. Buzoianu criticized the current adaptation strategies, deeming them insufficient without the necessary resources for implementation.

She also mentioned that existing legislation is outdated and that the Ministry of Environment must play an active role in reshaping policies and regulations. In conclusion, she emphasized that the costs of inaction are much higher in the long term than those of implementing the necessary measures now. The summit brings together leaders and experts to discuss global and regional climate solutions.
