First Vice President of PNL, Ciprian Ciucu, stated that the insults directed at the PNL president, Ilie Bolojan, by the social democrats were an offense against the entire party, affecting all the liberals who voted for him. On the occasion of the debate organized to mark 151 years since the establishment of PNL, Ciucu emphasized that many believed the party would betray again, but this did not happen.
He highlighted the importance of rediscovering the party's identity, which began with the Brătienis, but should not end with the current leadership. Ciucu also mentioned that in recent decades, the emergence of sovereignist currents, which contest Romania's membership in the European Union, could not have been anticipated. He emphasized that PNL must remain a pro-European party and continue to support integration into the euro, believing that Romania could have adopted the euro 10-15 years ago if there had been political will.
