The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) postponed, on November 8, the decision regarding the unconstitutionality claims of the law on private pension payments, filed by AUR and the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ). The new deadline was set for November 25. The ICCJ argued that the amounts in Pillar II represent the private property of the participants, and the proposed legislative changes constitute an unjustified interference with the right to property. Additionally, the ICCJ criticized the solution of transferring pension payments to separate funds, considering it disproportionate and risky. AUR accused the Government of stealing the pensions of Romanians through this law and that the changes undermine citizens' trust in the private pension system. The bill was adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, establishing a legal framework for the operation of private pension payment funds.
