The leader of PNL Bucharest, Sebastian Burduja, confirmed on Wednesday the resignation of Cătălin Predoiu from the position of first vice-president of the party, announced during the meeting of the National Political Bureau.
Burduja mentioned that Predoiu should explain the reasons for his resignation to the party and the citizens, without speculating on its connection to the planned Extraordinary Congress.
Predoiu remains a member of PNL, but his decision is considered a unilateral act. Burduja emphasized that PNL does not accept an imposed prime minister and that coherent leadership is necessary.
The Extraordinary Congress will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, to reconfigure the party leadership, in the context of the appointment of Adrian Veștea as prime minister.
