Belgium commemorates on Sunday ten years since the jihadist attacks of March 22, 2016, which took place at Brussels-Zaventem airport and in the Maelbeek metro station, resulting in 32 deaths and over 300 injuries. The ceremonies began at 8:00 AM, with the participation of Prime Minister Bart De Wever, King Philippe, and Queen Mathilde. Survivors, such as Beatrice de Lavalette, who lost her legs in the attack, shared emotional testimonies about the traumas experienced. The attacks, claimed by the Islamic State, were triggered shortly after the arrest of Salah Abdeslam, involved in the 2015 Paris attacks. The commemorative ceremonies will follow the exact timeline of the explosions, highlighting the devastating impact of these attacks in Belgium's history.
