AUR has announced the submission of a draft law in Parliament to limit the purchase of agricultural land by foreign investors.
According to the initiative, foreign individuals will be able to purchase a maximum of 10 hectares, while companies with foreign capital will have a limit of 30 hectares. AUR Deputy Lucian Mușat emphasized that Romania is among the countries with the largest areas of land sold to foreigners, estimating that approximately 40% of the country's agricultural area is controlled by foreign investors. The legislative project aims to amend Law no. 312/2005 and seeks to reduce the negative economic impact generated by the differences in economic power between Romanian citizens and those from Western Europe. AUR also proposes raising the limits for Romanian companies with a majority Romanian ownership.
