The Constitutional Court discusses on Thursday the complaint of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) regarding the unconstitutionality of the state budget laws and the social security budget for the year 2026.
AUR accuses that these normative acts were adopted through an abusive procedure, without a real debate in Parliament, thus affecting the rights of citizens. Among the reasons cited are the extreme compression of the legislative process, the adoption of the budgets in just a few days, and their unrealistic foundation, based on optimistic estimates. AUR emphasizes that the refusal to index pensions according to the law affects millions of pensioners and violates constitutional principles. Additionally, the party denounces the repeated derogations from fiscal-budgetary legislation, the ignoring of advisory institutions' opinions, and the lack of consultation with social partners.
AUR requests the Court to stop the entry into force of these laws and to sanction the government's deviations. The Court has set the deadline of March 26 to analyze the complaint.
