Petrișor Peiu, the leader of the AUR senators, stated that the recent economic data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) demonstrates the failure of the government led by Ilie Bolojan.

AUR announced its intention to submit a motion of censure, citing an economic decline of 1.7% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, an accelerated annualized inflation of 10.7%, and a decrease in industrial production of over 2%. Peiu emphasizes that this economic crisis is the result of the policies of the PSD-PNL-UDMR-USR government, not a global crisis.

He also mentions that, despite the forecasts of the BNR, inflation will remain high in the coming months. AUR believes that this data would have justified an immediately submitted motion of censure, but is unsure of the public's reaction.
