The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) announced, through its president Adrian Țuțuianu, the approval of the Strategic Action Plan for the year 2026, which includes priorities such as institutional reform, regulatory updates, digitization, and ensuring the integrity of political party financing.

The first four legislative projects, including those regarding the financing of parties and electoral campaigns, will be completed by the end of May 2026. Additionally, a draft electoral code will be developed between June and October 2026, aimed at harmonizing the electoral legislation in Romania. AEP has established internal working groups to support these efforts. The president of AEP emphasized the importance of transparent electoral legislation adapted to current realities, mentioning that the year 2026 will be a crucial year for strengthening the institution and the citizens' trust in democracy.
