The spiral of silence did not exist. Or if there was, it was in fact a double one, on both sides (shyer George Simion voters from the big urban where Nicușor Dan dominates and shyer Nicușor Dan voters from the small and rural urban where George Simion dominates) that canceled each other out.
Most likely, however, the spiral did not exist. No spiral, no awakening of conscience, no exoteric phenomenon has parasitized the awakening of a strong majority in one of the largest turnouts in the last 30 years that confirmed Romania's membership of the Euro-Atlantic world. A patriotic vote in the true sense of the word, free from mystification, misinformation and foreign propaganda.
The INSCOP estimates were very close to the voting results in round 2 2025 and in round 1 2025 and in parliamentary 2024 and in round 1 2024 which confirms that very few respondents lied in the interviews conducted by the pollsters.
I therefore believe that polls taken seriously reflect social reality and are very useful not only at election time, but especially between elections.
Polls are a powerful tool for strengthening democracy as they are the cheapest and most powerful means of bringing citizens' voices to light between elections and helping to shape public policy and political decisions in line with the will of the people.
