The Romanian government is facing the necessity of finding additional funds for the budget rectification, considering that, although tax increases have taken place, the budget deficit must be reduced according to commitments with the European Commission. In this context, discussions are underway about raising VAT to 23% and equalizing the rate for the HoReCa sector, which could affect hoteliers, already impacted by a weak year. Final decisions depend on the economic developments in the last months of the year.
