In Romania, employers in various sectors, including commerce, manufacturing and HoReCa, are facing labor shortages and are calling for an increase in the number of foreign workers. There are currently more than 140,000 foreign workers from countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turkey and India, but employers believe the annual threshold of 100,000 visas does not reflect real market requirements. They warn that bottlenecks in various industries are imminent without a rethink of immigration policies. The issue will be discussed at a national conference dedicated to foreign workers.
