The National Bank of Romania will carry out a statistical survey to determine household wealth, financing and consumption as part of an assessment recommended by the OECD. The survey will involve interviews with around 18,200 households and will collect data on real estate, deposits, investments and debt. The NBR emphasizes that the data will be protected under the GDPR and that the aim is to improve the targeting of social assistance. The survey will start in 2026 and will be carried out by a specialized operator.
