PHOENICIA EXPRESS SRL, a company controlled by Lebanese businessman Mohammad Murad, has accumulated tax debts of more than 16 million lei in almost 4 years. Although the company recorded a net profit of more than 12 million lei in 2024, it failed to pay tax obligations and contributions withheld from employees. ANAF did not take any action against it, and Murad became an MP with aspirations to become tourism minister. The company claims it has VAT to recover from the state, but current debts remain significant.
