On May 1, 2025, the pig population in Romania decreased by 3.2% compared to the previous year, reaching 2.92 million heads.

The INS data shows a decrease of 3.2% in the number of pigs, with a breeding stock reduced by 4.1%, reaching 217,286 heads. The regional distribution indicates an increase in the South-East, North-West, Central, and West regions, while the North-East, South-West Oltenia, and South Muntenia regions have recorded significant decreases.
