Romania has suspended funding for the National In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Program in the context of a low birth rate, affecting infertile couples. The associations SOS Infertilitatea, Declic, and Fertility Europe are urging the Government to unblock 5,000 IVF procedures, estimating that this could generate approximately 2,500 births. Infertility affects 1 in 5 couples, and resuming the program would represent a long-term investment in the demographic future of Romania. International organizations emphasize that IVF funding is a standard practice in the EU, and continuing the program would align Romania with these good practices.
