WhatsApp was affected by a temporary malfunction that created difficulties for millions of users worldwide. The incident, which occurred during the night, prevented users from sending photos, videos, and stickers, although text messages continued to function largely.
The DownDetector platform reported a significant increase in complaints, with users lacking access to real-time information about the service status, as WhatsApp does not have an official page dedicated to this aspect.
The issue was resolved after a few hours, and the application returned to normal. So far, Meta has not provided official explanations regarding the cause of the incident.
Additionally, WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new privacy feature that will allow users to communicate through a username, without revealing their phone number. The exact date of availability for this feature has not been announced.
