NASA has placed the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion capsule back on the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, preparing for the Artemis 2 mission, which will include astronauts on board. The rocket was transported to the launch pad after undergoing maintenance work. The mission, scheduled to begin on April 1, will last 10 days and will involve a loop around the Moon. Commanded by astronaut Reid Wiseman, the crew also includes Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen. Artemis 2 will test the life support systems of the Orion capsule, marking an important step in NASA's plans to return astronauts to the Moon by 2028. The crew is in quarantine at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, awaiting launch.
