The so-called shadow IT trend, where teams within companies adopt AI tools without IT department approval, is raising concerns from cybersecurity experts. This can lead to the exposure of sensitive data, and most leaders still underestimate the risks. Compared to traditional shadow IT, unsanctioned AI tools can do more with the data they have access to, increasing the risk of exposure in the event of a breach.
