Samsung has announced that its SmartThings Find service will be able to be used for locating lost airline luggage, thanks to a partnership with Turkish Airlines. Users can attach a Galaxy SmartTag, sold separately for approximately 90 lei, to their luggage. This device allows for constant tracking of the luggage through the SmartThings app, which uses a network of over 700 million Bluetooth Low Energy devices. In the event that the luggage is lost, the user can send a link with its location to the airline and can attach a photo of the luggage to facilitate its recovery. This collaboration is beneficial for both parties, with Samsung having the opportunity to sell more SmartTags, while Turkish Airlines benefits from user assistance in managing lost luggage.
