Neuralink, the company founded by Elon Musk, has announced its intention to begin "high-volume" production of brain implants and to implement a fully automated surgical procedure by 2026. These implants are intended to help people with severe neurological conditions, such as spinal cord injuries. The first patient to receive a Neuralink implant demonstrated the ability to play video games, browse the internet, and control a laptop just by thinking.

The company began human clinical trials in 2024, after addressing safety concerns raised by U.S. authorities. Currently, 12 individuals with severe paralysis are using the implants to control digital and physical devices. Neuralink recently raised $650 million in a funding round, accelerating the development of its technology to turn it into a scalable solution.
