NASA reveals plans for a permanent base on the Moon by 2032

NASA has presented new details about plans to build a permanent base on the Moon, including robotic landing modules and drones capable of moving by jumping.

Companies like Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos, have been selected to develop this equipment. The United States intends to send astronauts back to the Moon before the end of President Donald Trump's term, in 2029, in competition with China, which plans to send people to the Moon by 2030.

NASA has announced a $20 billion program to build a base at the lunar south pole, powered by nuclear and solar energy, by 2032. This base would allow for scientific experiments and the exploitation of lunar resources.

Although NASA has managed to send astronauts around the Moon during the Artemis II mission, experts suggest that China could be the first to land on the Moon. The NASA Ignition Moon Base program includes three phases, with planned robotic exploration until 2029 and the construction of energy facilities on the Moon.

However, the success of these plans depends on the development of a spacecraft capable of safely transporting astronauts.
