Blackstone, the world's largest alternative asset manager, states that investments in artificial intelligence (AI) have become the main engine of economic growth in the United States. This expansion is not limited to software but also includes physical infrastructure, such as data centers and semiconductor factories. Jon Gray, the president of Blackstone, emphasizes that AI development requires massive private capital investments, and infrastructure construction is essential for the AI economy. The performance of investment firms reflects this change, with Blackstone reporting $239 billion in capital flows last year, due to increased interest in AI-related assets. For example, QTS, the data center operator acquired by Blackstone, was the main contributor to the firm's $1.3 trillion portfolio gains.
While the traditional real estate sector has faced difficulties, AI-aligned assets have generated significantly higher returns. Blackstone has also invested in other companies within the AI ecosystem, demonstrating that AI expansion is a structural transformation of the economy, not just a temporary technological cycle.
