Instagram has announced that it will block the display of harmful content in the search results of teenagers' accounts and redirect users to helplines. This measure comes in the wake of ongoing lawsuits against Meta, which contest whether its platforms contribute to addiction and harm to minors. Thousands of families and government entities have sued Meta, claiming that its platforms do not protect children from harmful content.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has denied that social networks cause addiction. Meta will send notifications to parents via email, SMS, or WhatsApp to inform them about their teenager's searches that suggest a need for support. The company is also working on similar notifications for children's interactions with artificial intelligence, focusing on conversations related to suicide or self-harm.
