OpenAI has confirmed that ChatGPT will no longer be available on WhatsApp, following a decision by Meta to change the platform's terms of operation. This change will prohibit third-party artificial intelligence bots, including ChatGPT, starting from January 15, 2026. Users will be able to export their conversations with ChatGPT from WhatsApp, syncing them with the ChatGPT app. Meta, which is also developing its own AI solutions, made this decision to ensure that WhatsApp users, who number over three billion, only have access to its own AIs. This measure could attract criticism from AI companies and possible legal actions, considering the impact WhatsApp has on the market.
