The United States has resumed sharing military and security intelligence with Ukraine after the flows were temporarily suspended, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
According to Bloomberg, Zelensky said intelligence channels between Washington and Kyiv had been restored after a period marked by operational tensions and disagreements over support for Ukraine. The Ukrainian president expressed hope that bilateral talks with US officials would take place next week.
The suspension of data sharing came amid disputes over battlefield targeting rules and future ceasefire mechanisms. On October 15, The Washington Post reported that US officials had warned Ukraine that intelligence sharing could be halted if Ukrainian forces continued long-range attacks on refineries and petrochemical facilities in Russia.
The warning had been conveyed to the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington amid discussions over an “energy truce” unilaterally declared by President Donald Trump. The US administration had also threatened to suspend intelligence cooperation and block European purchases of US weapons for Ukraine if Kyiv did not stop attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure.
