The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, will meet on Friday with the Polish President Karol Nawrocki, in an official discussion after four months since Nawrocki took office. This meeting is essential for the relations between the two countries, considering that Poland has received over a million Ukrainian refugees since the Russian invasion in 2022.
Nawrocki, known for his critical positions towards Ukraine, has refused previous invitations to visit Kyiv, which has generated tensions. He believes that bilateral relations cannot be strategic without addressing historical issues, including the recognition of Ukraine's responsibility for the Volhynia massacres. Additionally, Nawrocki opposes Ukraine's unconditional accession to the EU and NATO.
