Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the recent sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union as a "very important" step in efforts to stop Russia's aggression. Upon his arrival in Brussels for a meeting with European leaders, Zelensky emphasized the need to intensify pressure on Putin. He thanked American President Donald Trump for the announced sanctions against the Russian oil sector, considering them a strong message that aggression will not go unpunished. The American sanctions include freezing the assets of Rosneft and Lukoil companies, as well as banning business with them. At the same time, the European Union agreed to tighten sanctions on Russian hydrocarbons, aiming to stop the financing of the Kremlin's war machinery. Moscow and Beijing have criticized these measures.
