Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested the resignation of the ministers of justice and energy, Herman Halushchenko and Svitlana Hrynciuk, on Wednesday following a major corruption scandal related to the energy sector. Hrynciuk announced that she had submitted her resignation but emphasized that she does not consider herself guilty. The scandal involves a close associate of Zelensky, Timur Mindici, and has generated criticism towards the president for using the judicial system to intimidate the opposition. Halushchenko has been suspended for alleged involvement in the embezzlement of 100 million dollars. These events occur in a context where Zelensky faces accusations related to the centralization of power and measures against critics, including the arrest of the former director of the national electricity company, Volodymyr Kudrytsky. These corruption scandals raise concerns about the rule of law in Ukraine, especially in light of the prospect of joining the European Union.
