The President of Estonia, Alar Karis, stated for Politico Europe that the countries on NATO's eastern flank must be prepared for a possible scenario in which Washington reduces its troops in the region, by strengthening their own military capabilities. Karis discussed with Donald Trump the importance of maintaining the American presence in Eastern Europe, but emphasized that U.S. plans in the Baltic states remain unpredictable, in the context where the Pentagon is finalizing a review of global troop deployment this month.
