Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized on Tuesday the importance of obtaining security guarantees from the United States before signing any peace agreement, following the weekend meeting in Miami with White House mediators. Zelensky reiterated the call for a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, mentioning that previous discussions had been postponed due to the conflict in the Middle East.
He stated that security is essential for advancing towards peace and called for closer collaboration between the U.S., Europe, and other international actors to prevent the prolongation of conflicts. Zelensky urged negotiators to ensure that discussions yield results and to continue prisoner exchanges. He also highlighted the geopolitical complications caused by the war in the Middle East, accusing Russia of taking advantage of the situation by supporting Iran.
