The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, appointed Yurii Pohrybnyi on Monday as the commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces, according to a presidential decree. Pohrybnyi will replace Volodymyr Karpenko, following a reorganization of the military leadership, which included the dismissal of former Defense Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, in July, causing protests.
The Logistics Forces are essential for supplying and maintaining the army, managing the storage, repair, and transportation of military equipment. In his speech, Zelensky emphasized the importance of granting increased powers to experienced commanders to improve the efficiency of operations on the front.
Yurii Pohrybnyi has extensive experience within the Armed Forces, having fought since 2014 and holding leadership positions in the 532nd Repair and Recovery Regiment.
