The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated at a press conference in Estonia that he has obtained the expected results from the open letter addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which he requested a direct meeting to end the war. Zelensky mentioned that the purpose of the letter was to demonstrate that Putin does not want peace, but he did not detail the results obtained following the letter to American President Donald Trump.
Putin reacted, stating that he sees no reason for a meeting with Zelensky as long as there is no peace agreement. The Russian leader also mentioned that he was contacted by a Russian businessman, Roman Abramovich, who conveyed Zelensky's desire to organize a summit.
Zelensky emphasized that his goal was to convince the U.S. of Putin's refusal to negotiate, and regarding the letter to Trump, he said that it achieved the goal of obtaining support for the acquisition of interceptor missiles necessary for Ukraine.
