At the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV's pontificate, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski and US Vice President JD Vance shook hands in St. Peter's Square. The event brought together delegations from some 150 countries, and Zelenski greeted the officials present, including the Peruvian president and the head of the Italian government. The meeting comes amid direct ceasefire talks between Ukraine and Russia, and Trump has announced that he will hold talks with Zelenski and Putin to stop the violence.
