In an interview with ABC News, Zelenski emphasized the need for the United States to apply tough sanctions against Russia to bring about a pause or an end to the war. He accused Russia of seeking the total defeat of Ukraine, noting that his country is open to a ceasefire but emphasizing the importance of US security guarantees. Zelenski highlighted recent Russian attacks and explained the secret military operation "Spider's Web", saying Ukraine is ready to fight to force Russia to accept peace.
