Eemeli Peltonen, MP of the Social Democratic Party of Finland, committed suicide in the parliament building in Helsinki. At 30, he was the youngest local council chairman and was elected to parliament in 2023. Peltonen had recently announced that he had been treating a kidney ailment and later contracted a bacterial infection.
