Discussions between China and Uruguay: Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of collaboration with Uruguay for a "multipolar" society.

During a meeting in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping conveyed to his Uruguayan counterpart, Yamandu Orsi, that the two countries should collaborate to promote a "fair and orderly multipolar world."

This visit is significant, being the first by a South American leader to China after the United States' invasion of Venezuela. During the meeting, 12 cooperation documents were signed in areas such as science, technology, trade, and the environment. Orsi stated that the partnership between the two countries is at a favorable moment and called for the intensification of relations. China also expressed its support for Uruguay in taking over the presidency of the Group of 77+, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in the Global South. Xi further added: "The world is undergoing profound changes today, unprecedented in a century, with a complex and volatile international situation, as well as unilateral bullying escalating." By 2025, China became the top destination for Uruguayan exports, with a favorable trade surplus.
