According to the new forecasts of WTO economists, the volume of global merchandise trade is expected to grow by only 0.5% next year, compared to an increase of 1.8% estimated in August. In contrast, the WTO has improved its estimates for global trade growth this year to 2.4%, up from 0.9% previously, thanks to the acceleration of imports in the US, ahead of the implementation of the tariff increase.
