Leah Stewart, 34 years old, had a terrifying experience in June when she was attacked by a 4-meter great white shark during a snorkeling session at Coogee Beach, Sydney. In an interview with the show '60 Minutes', Stewart recounted how the shark bit her forearm and leg, causing her to lose an extreme amount of blood and sustaining injuries so severe that doctors had to amputate her left arm.

During the attack, she focused on her daughter, determined to survive. Stewart described the shark as having a "terrifying" face and felt like she was fighting a "dinosaur." After a desperate struggle, she managed to escape, being pulled to shore by other snorkelers. She was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent over 10 surgeries and was placed in an induced coma. Despite the trauma, Stewart does not want to be known as "the girl attacked on the beach," but as "the woman who punched the shark in the face."
