A secret document from the European Commission suggests that EU member states will discuss these proposals, which could also affect Romania. Among the measures discussed are the ban on filter cigarettes, considered harmful to the environment, as well as a drastic reduction in points of sale and the prohibition of commercial incentives. It is also proposed that the sale of tobacco be limited to individuals born after a certain date, similar to a measure temporarily adopted by New Zealand. These initiatives will be discussed at the WHO Conference on Tobacco Control, scheduled for November 17-22 in Geneva.
