Vladimir Antonov, a Russian businessman, was arrested on Tuesday in western France, near Vannes, based on a European arrest warrant issued by Lithuania. He is accused of embezzling 400 million pounds (approximately 565 million euros) from the Lithuanian bank Snoras, where Antonov was chairman of the supervisory board. In 2011, he was arrested in London but was released on bail.
After the nationalization of the bank by the Lithuanian government, Antonov left the United Kingdom for safety reasons. He was also the owner of the Portsmouth football club for a short period.
