In a speech delivered on Saturday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that the real threat to Hungary does not come from Russia, but from the European Union.
Orban accused Brussels of undermining his government by supporting the opposition, two months before the parliamentary elections in Hungary. He described the EU as a "source of imminent danger" and emphasized that those who love freedom should fear Brussels, not the East.
The Prime Minister identified the European Union as his main adversary, claiming that the "repressive machine from Brussels" will be "cleansed" after the elections in April.
Orban, who has been in power since 2010, faces a significant internal challenge as his party is behind the main opposition party, Tisza, in most polls. The parliamentary elections in Hungary are scheduled for April 12, 2026.
