The announcement was made during a meeting with his supporters, where he emphasized the importance of anticipating economic changes that could arise after the lifting of sanctions. Viktor Orbán, known for his relationships with leaders such as Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, mentioned that discussions with both parties are essential. The Hungarian company MOL could acquire sanctioned Russian assets, and Orbán promised Putin the continuation of hydrocarbon imports from Russia, ignoring the European Union's pressure to diversify energy sources. He also challenged the EU's decisions regarding the ban on Russian gas imports, referring the matter to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
