Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, criticized the sanctions imposed by American President Donald Trump against Russian oil companies, stating that they are a mistake from Hungary's perspective, which significantly depends on Russian oil and gas.
In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Orban emphasized that without these resources, energy prices could rise drastically, causing supply shortages.
He announced that he would travel to Washington to discuss solutions for Hungary's economy.
Orban also sought the support of Pope Leo XIV for efforts to stop the war in Ukraine and mentioned that he would meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to discuss the future of the European economy, emphasizing that Europe is excluded from the conflict resolution process.
