Yvan Gil Pinto, the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, called for the immediate release of the ousted president Nicolas Maduro at the UN, who was captured by the United States over a month ago. Gil condemned the illegal military action of the US, which led to the death of over 100 people and the arbitrary detention of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
He also confirmed the opening of a diplomatic channel with Washington, emphasizing that Venezuela seeks solutions through dialogue and not through submission. Gil mentioned that his country has adopted an amnesty law, criticized for excluding certain military personnel, and stated that Venezuela aims for internal reconciliation and international cooperation based on equality.
