Researchers have discovered an impressive treasure of gold and silver coins near the city of Plzeň, Czech Republic, considered one of the most valuable recent archaeological treasures. The discovery was initiated in 2021 by an amateur treasure hunter, who found a fragment of an ancient coin, which led to coordinated archaeological excavations.

The treasure contains over 500 coins, gold ingots, jewelry, and artistic representations, all reflecting Celtic culture. The director of the Museum in Plzeň, Pavel Kodera, emphasized the importance of these objects in understanding the social and commercial structures of ancient communities. Subsequent analyses will determine the origin of the gold, thus confirming the strategic role of the region in ancient trade routes.
