The law signed by Governor Spencer Cox will go into effect May 7 and aligns with the views of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who supports removing fluoride from drinking water. While fluoride is beneficial in adequate doses for bone and tooth health, excessive consumption can cause fluorosis, adversely affecting their structure. Other states have adopted similar measures, but Utah is the first to completely ban the addition of fluoride to public water systems.
