The United States Department of Defense has suspended approvals for approximately 165 land-based wind projects, which could generate 30 gigawatts, enough energy for 15 million homes. This suspension affects the evaluation process, which usually takes a few days, and began in August last year, causing delays and a lack of communication from the authorities. The suspended projects include 35 awaiting final signature, 30 with verbal agreement, 50 in negotiation, and 50 considered without security risk.

The measures reflect an escalation of the Trump administration's policy against renewable energy, with the president repeatedly expressing hostility towards this industry. The director of the Renewable Energy Association emphasized that banning economic activities on private lands contradicts conservative values.
