These strikes are part of Operation Southern Spear, which aims to reduce drug trafficking. So far, in this campaign, 104 people have been killed. This week, the U.S. carried out several strikes, including one that resulted in the deaths of 8 people and another that killed 4. The Trump administration has intensified military actions in South America, focusing on Venezuela, accused of stealing American resources. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has denounced these actions as an attempt at regime change.
